New York Fashion Week is on and heating up day by day. The Wednesday became remarkable for the debut of MICA smart bracelet during the fashion show of Opening Ceremony Spring/Summer 2015. MICA, short for "My Intelligent Communication Accessory", is a new wearable tech with communication capabilities engineered by Intel and designed by fashion house Opening Ceremony. It allows women to stay connected via SMS messages, meeting alerts and general notifications received on the luxurious bracelet.
MICA will be available for purchase by the holidays and priced under $1000. The breakthrough design of bracelet's two models combine semi-precious gems and water snakeskin. (Intel's Press Release)
It is not the first time when technology storms the runway. In 2012, the models at Diane Von Furstenberg show were walking down the runway in Google high-tech glasses, which was really incredible. Even more, other tech accessories such as smart watches has filled the consumption market long ago.
It seems that fashion is more into involving more futuristic elements, and the new trend is going in the direction of making pieces of luxury practically functional and handy.
I wonder what new wearable techs we'll witness in the near future. Shoes-maps advising how to get to the desired destination? Earrings engineered for listening music? Or any other suggestions?
